I've gotten some PMs from members of the board about Trashcan Darlings' trip on the Rock The Boat festival last weekend, so I thought I'd make a post about it incase more people were curious.

In short it was fucking great! LOL

The highpoint of it was without a doubt Enuff Z'Nuff for me and the rest of the Trashcan Darlings. Awsome musicians and great songs! I only have their 4 first records and bought them together with about 60 other CDS, so I haven't listened to them that much.... since then they have released 11 more CDs. So it's safe to say that I didn't know most of the songs, but what a fucking gig they put on. Great show, great tunes and really great boys. Donnie didn't make it, but Johnny sang just like him.

Gilby Clarke also put on a great concert, even if he wasn't close to EZN for me..... but that's a matter of musical prefferences of course and the crowd really appreciated his set. He did songs from all his solo records, some GNR stuff and even some Kill For Thrills stuff.

Glem Hughes (Voice of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Gary Moore) ended the first night with a set consiting of his works. I'm not familiar with that at all, but they played great and the crowd loved it..... by this time I was already off to an afterparty.

On the Saturday, while I was eating so can't comment too much on it, some American guitar hero by the name of Doug Doppler also played. He was doing solos over a backing tape and was definitly a talented musician. Also seemed like a very nice guy.

A Swedish band called Freak Kitchen also played and I saw about 1 song of them. Seemed a bit too stoner rock/metal for my taste, but they were good musicians too.

Sunday started with a Swedish Van Halen tribute band; Fan Heller (Loosely translated to "Goddamnit"). They were awsome. The singer looked just like David Lee Roth. Same hair, fit and arobic pants. Guitar player in typical clownish Eddie VH outfit and they played great too.

Then it was Trashcan Darlings and our show went alright. Would probably have been better if we had played the night before, but hey.... the crowd loved it. Our set was mostly songs from our upcoming album with a few hits thrown in there

The evening was supposed to end with Adlers Appetite. But then Steven bad mouthed all his band members so they quit (or so I've read somewhere). So Steven was supposed to come alone and play with a Norwegian cover band named Dust N Bones.... but Steven got busted on the airport in Las Vegas and never even made it out of America.

Dust N Bones were there without a drummer, so Eric from EZN went on stage and did the whole set with them. That impressed me a lot. Not only had he never played with Dust N Bones before, but most of the GNR songs he had never played before either.

If it would have been an AC/DC tribute band it would have been one thing, but there is quite a lot to remember on the GNR tracks. Not that the patterns are neccicarily more difficult than other rock bands, but there are so many changes in each song.

After that we kept getting drunker with the EZN guys and ended up taking them to Elm STreet where they played a free gig later.

Definitly a festival worth checking out the next time it's on!
